In profound remembrance, we honor Ronald James Leonard Jr., who peacefully departed at the age of 60, surrounded by his cherished family in Westminster, Massachusetts. Though his physical presence has ceased, the profound warmth of his spirit, the infectious joy of his laughter, and the boundless love he freely shared will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy is etched not in stone, but in the countless lives he touched.
Born in the vibrant community of Medford, Massachusetts, Ron was the beloved son of the late Ronald J. Leonard Sr. and Lynda Fleming-Decker. His formative years included studies at Shawsheen Technical High School, where he honed practical skills, and further academic pursuits at Middlesex Community College, laying the groundwork for a life characterized by deep connections and personal growth.
Ron navigated life with an extraordinary ability to forge and maintain lifelong friendships, a testament to his engaging personality and genuine interest in others. He was renowned for his quick wit and infectious humor, which brightened every room he entered. Above all, his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones defined his character, making him a steadfast pillar of support for his family and friends.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Patty (Couture) Leonard, who resides in Westminster, Massachusetts. Their partnership was a cornerstone of his later life, built on mutual respect and enduring affection. Patty shared in Ron’s joys and provided solace during his final moments, embodying the strength of their bond.
His loving mother, Lynda Fleming-Decker, of North Reading, Massachusetts, formerly of Surry, also mourns his passing, along with his sister, Danni Fleming, of Fitzwilliam, and his brother, Casey Decker, of Round Rock, Texas. Ron also leaves behind his stepchildren, Samantha Vose, and her son, Riley, of Phillipston, Massachusetts, and Cody Couture of Gardner, Massachusetts, each of whom added unique dimensions to his family life.
Ron’s family ties extended deeply, connecting him to a wide network of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. These relationships were sources of immense joy, filled with shared laughter, cherished stories, and countless moments of love that enriched his life. He also held a special place for his two devoted best friends, Douglas Deloge of Clinton, Massachusetts, and Rob-Bob Kenda of Hubbardston, Massachusetts, whose companionship was invaluable.
A poignant Celebration of Life memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Redemption Rock Church, located at 3 Hager Park Road, Westminster, Massachusetts. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends, family, and loved ones to collectively honor Ron’s remarkable journey and reflect on the positive impact he had on their lives. Light refreshments will be served, fostering an atmosphere of shared remembrance and comfort.
