Southeastern Louisiana University’s women’s tennis program is poised for a significant boost with the announcement that sisters Paige and Morgan Duncan will join the team for the 2025-26 season, bringing a wealth of collegiate tennis experience and promising talent to Hammond.
Paige Duncan, the elder sister, embarks on her final collegiate season at SLU following successful stints at James Madison, UL Lafayette, and SIU Edwardsville. Her tenure at SIUE saw her achieve Academic All-District honors, alongside an impressive 13-11 singles record and an 11-11 doubles record, including a strong showing in Ohio Valley Conference play, solidifying her reputation as a formidable student-athlete.
Morgan Duncan, the younger sibling, will commence her freshman year at Southeastern Louisiana University, arriving with an accomplished high school career from Walker High School, where she earned all-district and all-metro accolades, showcasing her potential to make an immediate impact on the SLU tennis roster.
The unique opportunity for the sisters to play together adds a compelling narrative to their collegiate journeys, fulfilling a long-held desire. Paige expressed her sentiment, stating, “Being at Southeastern for my final year feels like the perfect way to close out my college career. It’s so special to be close to home and to spend my last season on the court with my sister as she starts her own college tennis journey.”
Morgan echoed her sister’s excitement, emphasizing the significance of this shared experience. “I’m super excited to play on the same team as my sister this year,” she remarked. “I’ve always looked up to her, so it’s pretty cool to be her teammate and share our Southeastern experience together,” highlighting the strong bond and mutual support that will undoubtedly benefit the team.
Their arrival significantly strengthens a Southeastern roster that recently achieved a 14-9 record in 2025, marking the most overall wins for the university’s women’s tennis program since 2016. This influx of talent is expected to further elevate the team’s competitive standing within collegiate tennis.
The Duncan sisters are not the only notable additions to the 2025-26 SLU tennis signing class, which now totals five new players. They join promising international talents Mariam Makashvili and Mariam Tetradze from Tbilisi, Georgia, and Adriana Tirado, hailing from Catellon, Spain, forming a diverse and formidable group of new student-athletes ready to contribute to the program’s success.
This strategic recruitment underscores SLU head coach Jason Hayes’s vision for building a robust and competitive women’s tennis program. The combination of seasoned experience from Paige and the fresh talent of Morgan, alongside their international teammates, sets the stage for a promising future for Southeastern Louisiana University athletics.
