The 2025 Triple J Guam National Youth Football Federation (GNYFF) League championships are set for an intriguing climax, presenting an ironic twist where the top-ranked and third-ranked teams will face off for ultimate glory across three divisions.
After a rigorous summer of intense weekend games, the GNYFF youth league, which initially commenced with 24 teams representing eight distinct organizations, is now poised to crown its three formidable champions this coming Saturday at the University of Guam Field.
Among the contenders, the Faha Outlaws emerge as a dominant force, eyeing an unprecedented double championship victory as they have secured their berths in both the Manha and Matua division title games, showcasing their exceptional talent and strategic depth.
The Outlaws’ regular season performance was nothing short of spectacular, boasting a perfect 7-0-0 record. Their offensive prowess was evident, scoring 205 points, the highest across all three leagues, while their defense proved stingy, conceding a mere 44 points over eight games, averaging an impressive 5.5 points per game.
In the highly anticipated Matua division, the formidable Packers face a challenging bout against the resilient Steelers. While overcoming the potent Packers will be a monumental task for the Steelers, their previous Week 1 encounter was a nail-biting affair, suggesting that the championship match could deliver an unexpected outcome.
Unlike the Manha and Metgot divisions, which feature entirely new finalists from the 2024 season, the Matua division championship presents a compelling rematch from last year’s title game, where the Faha Outlaws notably clinched their inaugural championship victory.
Coming off hard-fought semifinal wins, the Angels are primed for a super tight and hard-fought game. They will heavily rely on their dynamic running duo, Jace Sablan and Kaden Medler, whose combined agility and power could dictate the game’s tempo. Under the strategic guidance of coaching wizards Buzzy and Blu Shiroma, the Angels possess the tactical acumen to execute any play, making them a formidable opponent.
Despite an early-season shutout loss to the Angels, the Outlaws, led by head coach Justin Cruz, remained composed. Their coaching staff, renowned for seasoned play-calling, has meticulously prepared their team. Their well-rounded offense, spearheaded by quarterback Ghesan Gaje and the formidable ‘Brub Brawlers’—Johnnie, Reylyn, and John Rey—are expected to deliver an A-game performance with everything at stake in this ultimate championship clash.
