Indiana University’s Memorial Stadium has undergone a monumental transformation, receiving state-of-the-art athletic facilities with the installation of cutting-edge NFL turf and premium track upgrades by industry leader Hellas.
The core of this significant stadium upgrade involves the complete replacement of the old playing surface with Hellas’s renowned Matrix– Helix turf system, fortified by RealFill– infill and a substantial Cushdrain– 19mm shock pad. This sophisticated combination is celebrated for its proven durability, enhanced safety features, and a playing experience that closely mimics natural grass, setting a new standard for college sports venues.
This commitment to excellence extends beyond the main field, as the new surface at Memorial Stadium seamlessly complements the existing Matrix Helix installation at the Mellencamp Pavilion, IU’s indoor football practice facility, which was also completed by the expert Hellas company in June 2024, ensuring consistency across key training grounds.
Further enhancing the stadium upgrades, Hellas introduced its premium Q3000 track surface. This advanced multi-layered, poured-in-place system was utilized to meticulously resurface the entire existing track perimeter and was strategically extended to the south side of the stadium, providing an all-weather, high-performance running surface that offers both consistency and resilience for athletes.
