Historic LGBTQ+ Title Match Electrifies TNT Extreme Wrestling

Pro wrestlers Che Monet and Adam Bolt recently etched their names into sports history, competing in the first-ever all-LGBTQ+ title match for TNT Extreme Wrestling. This landmark event not only showcased their athletic prowess but also underscored a significant moment for representation within professional wrestling.

The historic bout, held on Saturday, July 26, saw out gay wrestler Monet and out bisexual wrestler Bolt face off in a highly anticipated Ultra X championship contest. The British pro wrestling promotion, TNT Extreme Wrestling, intentionally orchestrated this matchup to celebrate and highlight queer talent, setting a new precedent for inclusivity in the sport.

The intensity of the match was palpable from the outset, with both combatants displaying incredible skill and resilience. Adam Bolt, known for his audacious challenges, had previously vowed to claim the TNT Ultra X Championship. During the electrifying contest, he delivered a jaw-dropping table spot, sending a clear message of his determination.

Despite Bolt’s formidable efforts and crowd-pleasing maneuvers, it was Che Monet who ultimately emerged victorious, successfully defending his title. The reigning champion executed a powerful, high-octane powerdrop onto the canvas, securing the pinfall and reaffirming his dominance in the Ultra X division.

The spirit of competition was strong, but so was the camaraderie. In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship, Monet later shared a photograph alongside his rival, Adam Bolt, captioning it, “A weekend spent with my wrestling soulmate.” This gesture resonated widely, highlighting the mutual respect between the athletes.

This isn’t the first time Che Monet has made significant LGBTQ+ sports history with the promotion. In 2023, he became the first out LGBTQ+ TNT Extreme World Champion, and earlier this year, he further solidified his legacy by becoming the first out LGBTQ+ TNT Extreme Ultra X winner, consistently breaking barriers.

Adam Bolt, too, holds an impressive track record in the inclusive wrestling scene, currently holding the True Grit Wrestling Pride title. Last year, he achieved the distinction of being the first wrestler to simultaneously hold multiple Pride championship titles, further cementing his status as a trailblazer for queer athletes.

TNT Extreme Wrestling has firmly established itself as a beacon of LGBTQ+-inclusive sports entertainment, actively increasing the number of queer wrestlers featured on their fight cards. Their commitment extends beyond the ring, fostering an environment where identity is celebrated and talent is paramount.

The promotion’s dedication to the community is further exemplified through its partnership in hosting the annual UK version of EFFY’s Big Gay Brunch. Billed as the “premiere celebration of LGBTQ+ wrestling talent,” the event, featuring “gay icon Effy,” promises an unmissable spectacle set to ignite Liverpool’s Fusion Nightclub this September. Che Monet is confirmed for the event, as is Sonny Kiss, who recently challenged Monet for his title.
