Jess Glynne Condemns Trump’s Use of Song in Controversial ICE Deportation Video

British pop sensation Jess Glynne has vehemently denounced the Trump administration’s controversial use of her chart-topping song “Hold My Hand” in a recent social media video.

The track, a U.K. No.1 hit in 2015 and a minor success in the U.S., gained renewed popularity through its feature in advertisements for the budget airline Jet2, becoming deeply associated with their brand.

This familiar jingle, coupled with voice artist Zoë Lister’s memorable tagline, evolved into a widespread TikTok trend, with one particular video amassing nearly 38 million views due to its humorous depiction of a tiny hotel room window.

Exploiting this viral momentum, the White House controversially adopted the audio for an X (formerly Twitter) post, showcasing ICE officers making arrests under the provocative caption, “When ICE books you a one-way Jet2 holiday to deportation. Nothing beats it!”

A furious Glynne swiftly took to Instagram, expressing her disgust with the post, asserting that her music is fundamentally about “love, unity, and spreading positivity — never about division or hate,” underscoring her artistic intent.

Voice artist Zoë Lister echoed Glynne’s outrage on her own Instagram, directly tagging both the White House and Jet2, demanding accountability and questioning what measures could be taken to address the blatant misuse of her voice and the brand’s sound.

This incident highlights a growing concern among artists regarding the unauthorized and ideologically misaligned appropriation of their work by political entities, igniting a broader discussion on intellectual property rights and artistic integrity in the digital age, leading to significant Social Media Backlash over potential Copyright Infringement in Political Music Use.
