A significant leadership transition is underway within Chester County’s prominent organizations, as Katie Walker, the esteemed President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce (GWCC), announces her departure to assume a pivotal role at the Chester County Food Bank. This move marks a strategic shift for both entities, signaling a new chapter for community and business engagement in the region.
Walker will transition to her new position as Senior Director of Development at the Chester County Food Bank, a highly impactful charitable nonprofit crucial to the community’s well-being. Her extensive experience and leadership prowess are expected to significantly bolster the food bank’s initiatives, enhancing its capacity to serve residents in need across Chester County.
John Serock, GWCC Board Chair, lauded Walker’s transition as a “win for our Chester County community.” He emphasized that her leadership at one of the region’s largest and most successful chambers positions her ideally to contribute substantially to the nonprofit sector, fostering continued collaboration between the Chamber and the Food Bank.
Andrea Youndt, CEO of the Chester County Food Bank, echoed this sentiment, describing the move as a “natural next step in the evolution of both organizations.” She highlighted the long-standing strong support from the local business community and expressed confidence that Walker’s expertise will further advance their initiatives and expand their reach.
In light of Walker’s departure, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce has named Carly McFadden, currently the Director of Events and Marketing, as Interim President. She will be supported by Lisa Leone, the Operations and Member Support Manager, ensuring a smooth transition as the search for a new permanent president commences in the coming weeks.
The Chamber itself is experiencing robust growth, with its membership approaching an all-time high of nearly 600 businesses and organizations. This diverse membership spans various sectors, including retail, food & beverage, health & wellness, professional services, and educational and social service organizations, extending across West Chester Borough and surrounding communities like Birmingham, East Bradford, and West Goshen.
Katie Walker’s history with the GWCC is notable; she previously served as President from 2005 to 2012 before returning to the position in 2021. Her deep understanding of the Chamber’s operations and the Chester County landscape will undoubtedly be an asset in her new role at the Food Bank, with her official transition set for September 2, 2025.
