Khloe Kardashian has recently shared profound insights into her compassionate decision to become a primary caregiver for Amari Thompson, her ex-partner Tristan Thompson’s 18-year-old brother, who lives with a severe disability.
During a recent episode of her “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast, the 41-year-old Good American cofounder elaborated on the unique bond she shares with Amari, explaining that his condition, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a serious form of epilepsy, significantly impairs his mobility and speech. This revelation underscores Kardashian’s unwavering commitment to family, even beyond the bounds of her romantic relationship.
Amari’s journey has been particularly challenging since his mother, Andrea, passed away, leading to NBA player Tristan Thompson, 34, assuming legal guardianship of his younger brother in September 2023. Despite Tristan’s ongoing commitments with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Khloe has embraced a crucial role in ensuring Amari receives consistent and dedicated care in Los Angeles.
Kardashian emphasized the necessity of Amari remaining in Los Angeles due to the beneficial climate and the established support system, stating, “California weather is so good for Amari, and I just love having Amari be a part of my family.” This dedication extends to employing “sensational caretakers” to assist in providing Amari with the highest quality of life, highlighting the extensive nature of celebrity caregiving.
Her commitment to Amari, she explained, is deeply rooted in her strong friendship with his late mother, Andrea. Khloe revealed that for many years, even before Andrea’s passing, she was actively involved in Amari’s medical care, assisting with appointments and connecting Andrea with necessary doctors due to her established bond with the family.
This enduring connection transcends her past relationship with Tristan. Khloe clarified that her dedication to Amari is independent of their romantic history, driven by her profound respect for Andrea and the conviction that Amari deserves continued love and support regardless of where she and Tristan stand.
Furthermore, Khloe highlighted the significant positive impact Amari’s presence has had on her children, True, 7, and Tatum, 3, and the wider Kardashian family.
