Rita’s journey to the City Council was deeply personal, sparked by a profound conversation with her long-time neighbor, Virginia. This personal connection fuels her strong advocacy for responsible urban growth, emphasizing collaboration with developers to expand affordable housing options. While embracing new residential projects, Rita remains committed to addressing the needs of those currently disadvantaged in the housing market, ensuring equitable development.
Shawn’s commitment to civic duty began with his volunteer work on the City of Copperas Cove Parks and Recreation Quality of Life Board, a role he continues to hold with dedication. His recognized contributions led to his initial election to the Copperas Cove City Council, Place 3, in December 2021, followed by a successful re-election in November 2022, solidifying his ongoing role in municipal leadership.
John embodies community spirit through his extensive involvement in numerous civic and local organizations across Copperas Cove. His leadership roles include serving as President and Secretary for the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, where he remains an active member. Additionally, John plays a vital liaison role for both the Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful Commission and the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee, bridging community efforts with council objectives.
Following a distinguished military career, Dale transitioned seamlessly into public service, dedicating himself to various essential city and regional commissions and committees. His expertise extends to water utility management, demonstrated by his membership in the Texas Water Utilities Association and past presidency of its Central Texas District. Dale is also a respected Life Member of several other significant organizations, reflecting his broad commitment to regional infrastructure and community well-being.
Vonya brings years of impactful community service to her role on the City Council, having previously served on the boards of The Copperas Cove Education Foundation and The Boys and Girls Club. She actively volunteers for Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful and within the school district, further connecting with the community. Elected to Copperas Cove City Council, Place 6, in December 2020 and re-elected in November 2023, Vonya achieved a historic milestone as the first Black woman to hold this position, and currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem since January 2024.
Jack’s extensive community engagement is evident through his current service on the Central Texas Home Builders Board of Directors and the National Mounted Warfare Foundation board. He is also an active member of several prominent civic groups, including the Lions Club, the Noon Exchange and CenTex Exchange Club, the VFW, and the Moose Lodge. Jack was elected to the Copperas Cove City Council, Place 7, in November 2020, and successfully re-elected in November 2023, continuing his dedicated public service.
