Mercedes F1 Title-Winning Cars Thrill Fans at Silverstone Festival

The much-anticipated Silverstone Festival, set to ignite from August 22 to 24, promises an extraordinary spectacle for motorsport enthusiasts, spotlighting the remarkable 75-year journey of the Formula 1 World Championship. This landmark event will feature an exclusive World Champions Collection, showcasing iconic racing cars from all 34 F1 title winners, a true testament to the sport’s rich heritage and engineering prowess.

A major highlight of this year’s festival is the significant involvement of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, who are set to make a commanding presence. Their dedicated support extends to both the prestigious World Champions Collection and an immersive Fan Zone, designed to bring fans closer to the heart of their racing legacy.

Nick Wigley, the esteemed event director, expressed his enthusiasm for Mercedes’ continued partnership, stating, “The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has always been a fantastic supporter of Silverstone Festival, and their extended involvement this year in support of the World Champions Collection as well as the Fan Zone will add even more excitement to the milestone celebrations.” This sentiment underscores the team’s commitment to engaging with their global fanbase.

The Mercedes Fan Zone is poised to offer an expansive retrospective of the team’s illustrious 15-year tenure in Formula 1. Visitors will be treated to a chronological display of their formidable machinery, tracing the evolution of Mercedes’ design and performance from its inception to the cutting-edge vehicles of today.

Central to the Fan Zone’s display will be a collection of pivotal Mercedes F1 cars. This includes Michael Schumacher’s groundbreaking 2010 Mercedes MGP W01, a car that marked the team’s return as a factory entrant, providing a fascinating glimpse into their foundational years in the modern F1 era.

The exhibition culminates with the very latest in Mercedes engineering: this season’s W16 E Performance, currently piloted by the talented George Russell. This progression from past to present demonstrates the relentless pursuit of innovation and speed that defines the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.

Further enhancing the display, fans will have the unparalleled opportunity to see Lewis Hamilton’s dominant 2017 title-winning W08 EQ Power+, a car synonymous with his championship success. Alongside it will be Valtteri Bottas’ race-winning W09 EQ Power+ from 2018, both symbolizing an era of Mercedes’ absolute dominance.

Bradley Lord, a team representative for Mercedes F1, emphasized the special connection the team shares with the venue. “Given our proximity to Silverstone, with our factories at Brackley and Brixworth just a stone’s throw away, it is always a great pleasure to support the festival – especially in this landmark year celebrating the 75th anniversary of F1.” This geographical advantage highlights their deep roots in British motorsport.
