Penn State Berks Awards IMAGINE Grants to Seven Promising Startups

The entrepreneurial landscape in Berks County, Pennsylvania, has received a significant boost with Penn State Berks’ Berks LaunchBox announcing the latest recipients of its prestigious IMAGINE Your Business grants. This initiative empowers early-stage entrepreneurs, providing crucial financial support to transform innovative ideas into thriving businesses and foster regional economic growth.

The IMAGINE Your Business grant program, a cornerstone of the Berks LaunchBox’s commitment to fostering local entrepreneurship, is generously funded by the Imagine Berks Fund. This vital funding mechanism offers up to $2,000 to promising startups, directly addressing critical business needs such as prototyping, strategic marketing campaigns, and essential product development. The grants are designed to catalyze growth, helping nascent ventures overcome initial financial hurdles.

Berks LaunchBox officials, in a recent press release, underscored the exceptional caliber of this round’s recipients. They highlighted that each entrepreneur demonstrated remarkable potential, a crystal-clear vision for effectively addressing identified market needs, and meticulously crafted strategic plans detailing the optimal utilization of the grant funds. This rigorous selection process ensures that the investments yield maximum impact and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

Among the distinguished recipients is Amanda Hand, founder of Pawzitive Pet Food, a brand dedicated to reconnecting pets with their natural dietary instincts. Her company offers single-ingredient, freeze-dried raw treats crafted from minimally processed, pasture-raised meats, sourced from ethically run Pennsylvania farms. With a short and transparent supply chain, Pawzitive Pet Food plans to leverage the grant for its inaugural production run, packaging, shipping logistics, and the development of compelling branding assets.

Another visionary awardee is Penn State Berks alumnus Brandon Everett, whose venture focuses on providing nutrient-rich Latin and Mediterranean plant-based meals to the community. His business champions eco-sustainability by significantly conserving water through the exclusive use of vegan ingredients. The grant will be instrumental in funding a robust marketing campaign, securing professional accountant services, and addressing practical operational needs, including the acquisition of a generator for outdoor events and essential storage bins.

Carmen Booker, an entrepreneur dedicated to natural wellness, was recognized for her company specializing in high-quality, all-natural oils. These meticulously formulated oils are enriched with essential nutrients designed to soothe skin irritation, promote healthy beard growth, and enhance the beard’s natural texture while nourishing the underlying skin. The unique blend ensures a lightweight, non-greasy feel, delivering lasting hydration. Booker intends to utilize the grant for bulk purchases of raw ingredients, premium packaging solutions, and a targeted marketing campaign.

The grant program also recognized KÅ«l, an innovative creation by father-and-son duo Chad and Samuel Ritter, which introduces a compact countertop appliance engineered for rapidly cooling hot beverages. This groundbreaking device can cool drinks within approximately 60 seconds without dilution or altering the flavor profile. Their grant funds are earmarked for initial prototyping and comprehensive product testing of their patented design, promising a significant advancement in beverage convenience. Additionally, Emanuel Castellano’s Savvy AI Assist, another grant recipient, is bridging the digital divide by democratizing AI technology specifically for small businesses. Beyond conventional website building or ad placement, Savvy AI Assist crafts complete, custom-built AI-powered business ecosystems that operate 24/7 to generate leads, nurture client relationships, and close sales. Castellano plans to direct the grant funds toward marketing efforts, including the development of comprehensive marketing kits and expansive digital outreach campaigns.

Aspiring entrepreneurs seeking future support from the Berks LaunchBox must complete a comprehensive business model canvas and schedule a review appointment with the dedicated Berks LaunchBox staff. This structured approach ensures that all applicants are thoroughly prepared and that their business concepts are rigorously vetted, reinforcing the program’s commitment to nurturing sustainable and impactful ventures within the regional entrepreneurial ecosystem.
