Upon graduation, Leadership Rowan alumni emerge as remarkably well-equipped contributors, armed with fresh knowledge, an expanded professional network, and diversified perspectives crucial for effective civic engagement. Their preparedness ensures they are ready to assume pivotal roles, guiding initiatives and fostering collaboration that directly benefits the fabric of Rowan County.
“Leadership Rowan has a proud history of shaping our community’s leaders, with more than 800 graduates to date,” stated Nick Means of F&M; Bank, chair of the Leadership Rowan Steering Committee. “Its continued success reflects Rowan County’s strong commitment to developing informed, engaged leaders who work together to move our community forward. The journey begins with an intensive two-day retreat on August 21-22, where participants will engage in a Simulated Society (SIMSOC) exercise, fostering teamwork and immediate camaraderie. Following this, full-day sessions will be held monthly from September through May, meticulously designed to enhance leadership skills and deepen participants’ understanding of diverse facets of Rowan County, including history, criminal justice, public education, and business networking.
Each year, the success of Leadership Rowan is orchestrated by a dedicated Steering Committee and co-chairs from the previous class, ensuring continuity and excellence. Key committee members, including Deborah Johnson of Livingstone College, Alisha-Byrd Clark of Gemstones and COMPASS Leadership Academy, and Elaine Spalding, President of the Rowan Chamber, meticulously craft a program that truly makes a difference.
The Rowan Chamber of Commerce expresses profound confidence that the 2025-26 Leadership Rowan Class will uphold and advance the program’s distinguished legacy of excellence.
