Seaham Food Festival 2025: Your Essential Guide to This Weekend’s Event

Anticipation is building as the Seaham Food Festival prepares to transform County Durham into a culinary paradise this weekend, on Saturday, August 2nd, and Sunday, August 3rd. This eagerly awaited event promises a feast for the senses, bringing together a vibrant mix of culinary delights, engaging entertainment, and community spirit.

Visitors are strongly advised to meticulously plan their travel arrangements to ensure a seamless experience at this year’s highly anticipated Seaham Food Festival. With an expected influx of attendees, proactive journey planning will significantly enhance enjoyment and minimize potential delays, ensuring smooth access to the festival grounds.

To facilitate ease of access, two dedicated park and ride services will be operational. One service will depart from Spectrum Business Park (SR7 7TT), while an additional, new pick-up point is conveniently located at the Seaham Car Boot Sale site, situated on the B1287 Ryhope to Seaham Road (SR7 7AG). These services are designed to manage traffic flow effectively and provide convenient transport options.

Attendees are encouraged to utilize the Seaham Car Boot Sale site for parking, particularly those without specific accessibility needs. This thoughtful allocation helps preserve sufficient accessible parking spaces and ensures adequate bus availability at Spectrum Business Park for individuals requiring special accommodations, promoting an inclusive festival environment.

The first park and ride buses from both Spectrum Business Park and the Seaham Car Boot Sale site will commence operations promptly at 9:30 AM on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Return journeys will depart from the precise drop-off points: the top of Harbour Road for Spectrum passengers, and opposite the Masonic Temple in North Road for those utilizing the Seaham Car Boot Sale service. The final return buses will depart at 5:30 PM on Saturday and 4:30 PM on Sunday, so planning your departure is crucial.

Significant road closures will be in effect to ensure pedestrian safety and manage the festival area. North Terrace (B1287), specifically from the Tempest Road junction to the Marquess Point junction, will be closed from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Saturday and from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Sunday. These measures are vital for the smooth operation and safety of the event.

Beyond the delectable street food from the region’s finest independent traders, the festival offers a rich tapestry of entertainment. The open-air cookery theatre will feature celebrity chefs inspiring attendees with their culinary prowess, while a dynamic program of live music, engaging theatre, creative crafts, and lively comedy will provide continuous fun for the entire family, making it a comprehensive cultural experience.

Councillor Lyndsey Fox, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for economy and partnerships, emphasized the festival’s dual benefits, highlighting its role in boosting the local economy by attracting thousands of visitors and fostering a strong sense of community togetherness. She urged all prospective attendees to plan their travel meticulously in advance to fully immerse themselves in the festivities and enjoy every aspect of the vibrant Seaham Food Festival.
