Calligan’s collegiate career at Southeastern Louisiana culminated in a strong final season, where he amassed 39 tackles, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble. His journey also included two seasons at Western Kentucky from 2021-2022, where he continued to demonstrate his defensive capabilities. At Western Kentucky, Calligan totaled 45 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and three pass deflections, highlighting his well-rounded skill set and adaptability across different defensive schemes.
The acquisition of Calligan comes at a pertinent time for the Seahawks, particularly as they navigate the absence of veteran free agent signing Shaquill Griffin. As of recent reports, Griffin was still unavailable, reportedly dealing with a personal matter. His absence creates an immediate need for reliable depth in the cornerback position, a void Calligan is now expected to help fill.
Even with other cornerbacks on the roster, Griffin’s situation left the team with limited immediate options.
