The much-anticipated Ginger & Spice Festival in Market Drayton is set to delight attendees once more with the confirmed return of the acclaimed Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band, an achievement made possible by a successful crowdfunding initiative.
This vibrant cultural addition was secured after a dedicated crowdfunding campaign on Spacehive successfully raised £4,979. This impressive sum includes generous contributions from both the public and local businesses, demonstrating strong community support for the festival’s unique offerings.
A significant portion of the funds, specifically a pledge of £3,053, came from Shropshire Council’s Community Action Fund. This additional financial backing highlights the council’s commitment to fostering local events and cultural experiences within the region.
Organizers of the Ginger & Spice Festival excitedly revealed that the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band Experience will grace the event in September. Their performances are expected to include dynamic live street performances, bringing the vibrant sounds of India to the heart of Market Drayton.
Beyond musical performances, the band’s return promises immersive Indian craft and cultural workshops, offering attendees a deeper engagement with traditional arts. Additionally, a drumming performance and workshop from Art Brasil, coupled with an exciting new parade through the town centre, will further enhance the festival’s appeal.
Festival director Julia Roberts expressed immense enthusiasm for the band’s return, stating, “We are absolutely thrilled to have raised funds and secured additional support from the Community Action Fund to bring back the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band to this year’s festival.” Her words underscore the significance of this artistic collaboration.
The proposed new parade is set to be a spectacular highlight, featuring the Rajasthan Brass Band alongside participation from local schools, charities, and various community groups. This inclusive element aims to strengthen community bonds and create a memorable visual spectacle.
The majority of the festival’s main attractions are scheduled for Saturday, ensuring a packed day of entertainment. This includes the popular Spicy Artisan Market, where local producers will showcase their wares, and the James Du Pavey Food Theatre, featuring a live cookery chef line-up.
Further enhancing the Saturday experience will be the Original Biscuit Bakers Heritage Trail for children, providing family-friendly fun. Attendees can also look forward to live music, engaging street dancing, and various craft activities, making the Market Drayton Ginger & Spice Festival a truly comprehensive cultural celebration.
