Currently, the Washington County Veterans Service Office provides essential assistance by appointment at the Washington County Courthouse in Jonesborough. Veterans seeking help with their paperwork and bureaucracy can schedule consultations weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by contacting the office directly. This established service acts as a primary point of contact for eligible individuals.
In a significant move to enhance accessibility and veteran outreach, service officers will now dedicate Wednesdays to appointments at the Johnson City Vet Center. This expansion allows officers to connect with veterans already utilizing the center for counseling services, offering a convenient “one-stop shop” approach for comprehensive support and government assistance.
Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy underscored the importance of this expanded presence, noting the region’s growing veteran population, significantly bolstered by the presence of a top-tier Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. Dawn Lucier and Cole Matthews, experienced Veteran Service Officers, are central to this mission. Their expertise lies in guiding veterans, their spouses, and dependents through the often-daunting maze of government paperwork, ensuring claims are accurately filed and processed. The Washington County Veterans Service Office prides itself on being a comprehensive resource.
