The Cincinnati Bengals have officially solidified their long-term presence at Paycor Stadium, securing an extensive lease agreement that promises to keep the team in its familiar home for at least another decade.

This significant development sees the franchise commit to an 11-year extension with Hamilton County, ensuring their tenure at the stadium through June 2036, with a further option to extend the agreement all the way to June 2046.

The finalized lease culminates a prolonged negotiation period that has been a prominent storyline throughout the recent offseason. It follows an initial agreement struck in June with local officials for a substantial $470 million renovation of Paycor Stadium, alongside the pending lease extension itself.

While the renovation plans had gained traction, the comprehensive lease agreement necessitated formal endorsement from the county commissioners. This critical governmental approval was the final hurdle, ultimately passing with a decisive 2-1 vote, paving the way for the Bengals’ continued occupancy.

The financial specifics of the stadium overhaul reveal a collaborative investment. Although the Bengals initially proposed a larger $830 million project, the finalized plan carries a more modest $470 million price tag. Hamilton County is set to contribute the majority, committing $350 million, while the Bengals will provide $120 million, partially aided by the G-5 loan program.

Paycor Stadium, which has served as the Bengals’ home since its opening in 2000, is slated for a series of modern enhancements as part of this project. Anticipated improvements span across various crucial areas, including upgrades to the club lounges, stadium suites, enhanced concessions, and cutting-edge scoreboards, all designed to elevate the fan experience.

Reflecting on the agreement, Bengals owner Mike Brown emphasized the deal’s fairness and necessity, stating, “The county has said that what we’re asking for is in the generality of what other deals are in markets our size, and in situations approaching ours.” He reiterated the stadium’s suitability and the team’s commitment to its maintenance and community role.
