Flint Jazz Festival Ignites Downtown: Three Days of Rhythmic Bliss Awaits

Downtown Flint is poised to resonate with the vibrant sounds of improvisation and harmony as the highly anticipated Flint Jazz Festival makes its grand return this weekend, promising an enriching cultural experience for all attendees.

A cherished summer tradition for 43 years, this annual celebration of music serves as a pivotal gathering point, spotlighting an impressive array of local and regional jazz artists while fostering a profound sense of community unity and cultural appreciation.

From Friday, August 1st, through Sunday, August 3rd, the Greater Flint Arts Council proudly hosts this significant event, meticulously curating a diverse schedule designed to captivate jazz enthusiasts and newcomers alike throughout the entire weekend.

The festival commences on Friday evening with the engaging “JazzWalk,” an innovative opportunity for participants to wander through downtown Flint’s eclectic venues, discovering intimate settings where live jazz music can be savored up close.

Saturday’s dynamic lineup promises a full day of captivating performances, beginning promptly at 12:30 p.m. with the energetic Rumprollers, leading into an evening culminating in a compelling set by the renowned Ralph Armstrong Trio from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The final day, Sunday, initiates its musical journey at 1 p.m. with the soulful artistry of Gwen Pennyman-Hemphill, followed by equally compelling performances from the Reichlin Small Group, the People’s Jazz Band, and the innovative Leafar Village, ensuring a memorable conclusion to the festival.
