Liverpool Ends Isak Pursuit After Newcastle Rejects £110m Transfer Bid

The high-stakes pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak by Liverpool has reportedly reached an abrupt end, with sources indicating that the Merseyside club has withdrawn its interest following a firm rejection of their initial offer.

Liverpool’s reported £110 million bid, inclusive of various add-ons, was swiftly rebuffed by Newcastle, who are believed to value their Swedish international forward closer to the £150 million mark, signaling their reluctance to part ways with a key asset.

According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Liverpool’s decision not to submit a follow-up offer stems directly from the “nature of Newcastle’s rebuttal,” which has led the Reds to deem any further pursuit as “futile” unless the Magpies significantly alter their current stance.

Despite ongoing speculation, Newcastle United remains steadfast in its resolve to retain Isak, actively pushing for him to sign an extended contract, underscoring their commitment to building a competitive squad around their star players.

Conversely, reports suggest Isak has been actively seeking a move away from St. James’ Park, reportedly turning down two contract extensions and opting to train with his former club, Real Sociedad, further complicating the transfer narrative.

Adding to the intrigue, Newcastle expert Keith Downie has indicated that a resolution regarding Isak’s future is anticipated before the Premier League season commences on August 15th, intensifying the countdown for both player and clubs.

Earlier reports had detailed Liverpool’s initial approach as potentially “lowballing” Newcastle with their £110 million offer, which reportedly fell £40 million short of the Tyneside club’s internal valuation, hinting at the difficulties inherent in this negotiation.

The unfolding scenario leaves both Liverpool and Newcastle with strategic decisions to make regarding their attacking options and squad depth, highlighting the complex dynamics of the current transfer window and the high stakes involved in securing top-tier talent.
