Lunar Outpost & LEGO Group Launch Innovative Technic Moon Rover Set

The frontier of space exploration has taken an imaginative leap forward with the debut of the LEGO Technic Lunar Outpost Moon Rover Space Vehicle set, a groundbreaking collaboration between planetary mobility pioneer Lunar Outpost and the esteemed LEGO Group. This partnership signifies a unique convergence of cutting-edge lunar robotics and creative play, marking the first time the LEGO Group has partnered with a commercial space company to bring the wonders of the cosmos directly into homes.

Born from a shared passion for space and the ongoing quest for lunar discovery, this innovative LEGO Technic set aims to captivate enthusiasts of all ages. It highlights the growing importance of private sector involvement in space exploration, providing a tangible representation of the advanced technologies propelling humanity beyond Earth’s confines.

The meticulously designed LEGO Technic Lunar Outpost Moon Rover Space Vehicle set features a futuristic all-terrain rover inspired by Lunar Outpost’s real-world designs. Builders will delight in its authentic details, including a sophisticated rocker suspension system, responsive 4-wheel steering, deployable solar panels for energy collection, and a versatile rotating arm. This arm is specifically engineered to lift and deploy a smaller mining rover, facilitating missions to search for vital water ice within the Moon’s regolith, with materials then securely stored in a purpose-built sample container.

Adding an exciting layer of authenticity, the set includes a bonus mini-build: a Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform (MAPP) rover. This smaller model directly replicates the actual MAPP rover that Lunar Outpost successfully landed on the Moon in March 2025, offering an unparalleled connection to contemporary planetary mobility advancements and reinforcing the educational value of the set.

Justin Cyrus, founder and CEO of Lunar Outpost, emphasized the synergy behind the collaboration, stating, “You can’t build lunar rovers like we do without being creative, imaginative, and fun. With the LEGO Group, we found a partner that lives these qualities in everything they do. Together, we created a kit that showcases our technologies to fuel the dreams of future engineers, scientists, and astronauts.” He further added a personal touch, acknowledging, “Not to mention, we just love building with LEGO bricks; it is very special to partner with such an iconic and history-making company.”

Daniel Meehan, Creative Lead for Space at the LEGO Group, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the company’s enduring legacy in inspiring astronomical ambitions. “For generations, the LEGO Group has been creating amazing space sets that empower children and space-enthusiasts to reach for the stars and expand their imaginations,” Meehan explained. “This new Lunar Outpost LEGO Technic model builds upon this legacy, celebrating a new chapter in space exploration and the extraordinary discoveries to come.” This collaboration serves as a powerful tool for STEM education.

This partnership between Lunar Outpost and the LEGO Group stands as a significant early indicator of the burgeoning cislunar economy. Such commercial space ventures are crucial not only for fostering greater public awareness and excitement about the future of space but also for enabling the sector to finance and support groundbreaking new missions and scientific discoveries.

Lunar Outpost, a leader in planetary mobility and space resource utilization, continues to develop advanced robotic systems tailored for extreme environments. From facilitating the first commercial rover on the Moon to actively supporting NASA’s Lunar Terrain Vehicle project, the company is at the forefront of establishing sustainable lunar infrastructure and expanding the cislunar economy, with multiple missions already contracted, thereby shaping space as an extension of the global economy.
