Mickey Madden Accused of Assault by Wife Amid Teen Sexting Allegations

Former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden faces grave accusations from his wife, Catherine Blair Bowman, who alleges he physically attacked her after she confronted him about “sexting teenage girls.” This serious accusation has brought the celebrity into a spotlight far from his music career, highlighting a deeply disturbing domestic violence case.

Court documents filed by Bowman on Wednesday, July 30, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and obtained by multiple outlets, reveal her pursuit of a restraining order against Madden. These filings detail a series of events leading to the assault claim, intensifying the public scrutiny on the musician.

Bowman claimed in the court filing that the alleged physical assault occurred on July 21 at their Los Angeles home during a tense conversation about the alleged text messages. She expressed being “terrified” as Madden reportedly went “insane” upon being confronted, revealing a volatile dynamic within their relationship.

The nature of the alleged text messages is particularly alarming, with Bowman asserting they included “sexting teens about his his rape fantasy and soliciting lewd images.” She stated, “I am completely traumatized by the discovery that respondent has been engaging in behavior with high school girls that is probably criminal,” underlining the severity of the sexting allegations.

This isn’t Madden’s first brush with the law regarding domestic violence; he was previously arrested on Saturday, June 27, for similar allegations. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Tuesday, June 30, that Madden, 41, was charged with violating California penal code 237.5(a), which pertains to willfully inflicting corporal injury, further cementing the pattern of troubling behavior.

Bowman’s detailed account in the filing describes Madden allegedly shoving her into a kitchen counter and chasing her outside their home before pushing her into a gate. “He put both his arms around my body around my abdomen and arms to restrain me. He then slammed my body against the marble kitchen counter,” she recounted, portraying a harrowing struggle. “I felt pain in my hip and waist area. He shoved me to the ground and was out of his mind. I landed on my knees. He kept screaming for me to give him the phone. He appeared literally insane to me. I had never seen such uncontrollable anger and a completely different person.”

Screenshotted text messages, submitted as part of the court filing, offer a glimpse into Madden’s alleged communication, including an exchange where he described the sexting as “a private and fake harmless fantasy” and insisted it had “no bearing on real life at all.” However, he later allegedly texted Bowman, “I am beyond sorry for my actions and for engaging in any form of expression of those impulses..it’s all completely unacceptable.”

Following his June arrest, Mickey Madden announced his temporary departure from Maroon 5, stating to Rolling Stone, “I have some things that I need to deal with and address right now and so I have decided to leave Maroon 5.” This decision reflects the significant personal and professional fallout from the allegations and legal proceedings.

A judge has since granted a temporary restraining order against Madden, which remains in place until a scheduled court date of August 20. According to court documents, Madden is currently receiving treatment at a rehabilitation facility, indicating efforts to address underlying issues amidst the ongoing legal and personal challenges of this celebrity scandal.
