NYC Gunman’s Vegas Suicide Note Uncovers Disturbing Details, Apology

A disturbing discovery in Las Vegas has provided new insight into the tragic events surrounding Manhattan gunman Shane Tamura, as New York Police Department detectives announced the unearthing of an additional suicide note and antipsychotic medication from his residence in the city. This revelation deepens the mystery behind the young man’s violent actions in New York City.

Investigators detailed that the note, located within Tamura’s studio apartment, was explicitly addressed to his parents. Within its poignant lines, Tamura conveyed a heart-wrenching message, stating, “I love you, mama. I’m sorry,” offering a glimpse into his personal anguish and the torment that may have preceded his final act.

Further complicating the ongoing investigation, authorities also recovered an AR-15 rifle from the Las Vegas home, identified as the weapon used in the Manhattan shooting that critically injured one individual. Alongside the rifle, 100 9mm rounds and an empty box for a revolver—a firearm later found in Tamura’s car parked in New York—were also seized, painting a clearer picture of his preparations.

Shane Tamura, 27, ultimately succumbed to self-inflicted gunshot wounds after initiating gunfire within an office building that notably houses both Blackstone and the NFL headquarters in New York. This incident, which sent shockwaves through the city, marked the culmination of a cross-country journey fraught with an unknown purpose.

Beyond the Las Vegas note, a three-page suicide letter was also found on Tamura’s person at the scene of his death. In this more extensive document, he reportedly attributed his profound mental illness to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE—a debilitating brain disease commonly associated with head trauma, often observed in athletes, particularly football players, who have endured multiple concussions throughout their careers.

The investigation further revealed a significant connection to Tamura’s past employment in Las Vegas. The gunman had worked as a security guard at a casino, and his supervisor there, identified only as Rick, has emerged as a key figure in the inquiry, as police confirm a direct link to Tamura’s arsenal and transportation.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that this supervisor, Rick (whose full name remains undisclosed), was responsible for selling Tamura both the AR-15 rifle utilized in the Manhattan shooting and the BMW sedan he drove from Nevada to New York. This transaction highlights a critical aspect of how Tamura acquired his means and mobility prior to the tragic event, raising serious questions about private gun sales.

The convergence of these details—a troubled individual, a cross-country drive, a cache of weapons, and deeply personal suicide notes—underscores the complex interplay of mental health challenges, access to firearms, and the devastating consequences that can unfold when these elements tragically align. NYPD detectives continue their meticulous work, aiming to fully unravel the timeline and motivations behind Shane Tamura’s final, desperate acts, hoping to prevent similar tragedies.

As the full narrative unfolds, the discovery of these notes and associated evidence in Las Vegas offers a grim, yet crucial, window into the mind of the Manhattan gunman, forcing a broader societal conversation about identifying and addressing severe mental distress and ensuring responsible gun ownership practices across state lines.
