Celebrity chef Paula Deen, alongside her sons Jamie and Bobby Deen, has announced the closure of her two iconic Savannah, Georgia, restaurants, The Lady & Sons and The Chicken Box, marking the end of a significant chapter in her culinary journey.
The decision, described as heartfelt, saw July 31st as the final day of service for the establishments, which included The Lady & Sons, a cornerstone of Savannah’s dining scene where Deen’s catering business, The Bag Lady, first began in 1989.
In a joint statement, the Deen family expressed immense love and gratitude for the countless patrons who had graced their doors over the years, acknowledging the profound connection forged with their loyal customer base.
Equal appreciation was extended to the dedicated staff, both current and former, whose hard work, unwavering care, and warm hospitality were instrumental in shaping The Lady & Sons into the beloved institution it became.
Looking ahead, the focus will now shift entirely to the four thriving Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen locations situated across the country in popular tourist destinations: Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, and Branson.
The statement confirmed ongoing personal involvement from the Deen family, with plans for regular visits to these existing locations, commencing with an appearance in Branson on August 8th, underscoring their commitment to the brand’s future.
Beyond the family-style restaurants, Paula Deen continues to expand her culinary presence through various media ventures, including regularly sharing new recipes on her popular YouTube channel and her show on Fox Nation, maintaining her connection with fans nationwide.
