Major Investors Boost Verizon Stock Holdings, Driving Market Activity

Northern Trust Corp also demonstrated increased confidence, lifting its investor holdings by 12.4% during the fourth quarter to a staggering 45,043,310 shares, worth over $1.8 billion.

Further reinforcing the trend of substantial institutional accumulation, UBS AM, a distinct business unit of UBS ASSET MANAGEMENT AMERICAS LLC, boosted its position in Verizon by 13.3% in the fourth quarter. This resulted in UBS AM holding 38,893,487 shares, valued at approximately $1.55 billion. Collectively, these strategic institutional investments highlight that a significant 62.06% of Verizon’s stock is now controlled by major institutional players, indicating strong professional interest in the telecom sector.

In related corporate news, Verizon’s CEO executed a noteworthy stock sale on May 7th, offloading 9,000 shares at an average price of $44.10, totaling $396,900.00. This transaction reduced the CEO’s direct ownership in the company to 10,008 shares, valued at $441,352.80, representing a 47.35% decrease in their personal position. Verizon Communications recorded a net margin of 13.28% and a return on equity of 19.61%, with revenue for the quarter reaching $34.50 billion, exceeding expectations. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.6775, paid on August 1st, representing an annualized dividend of $2.71 and a yield of 6.3%. Analysts anticipate Verizon Communications Inc. to post 4.69 EPS for the current year, cementing its position as a key player in the telecom sector.
