Rock Springs Celebrates National Farmer’s Market Week with Special Event

This August, the vibrant community of Rock Springs is set to join a nationwide celebration, marking National Farmer’s Market Week from August 3rd to 9th. This annual observance underscores the vital role these local hubs play in fostering community spirit and supporting local agriculture.

As part of this significant occasion, the beloved Main Street Market in Rock Springs will host a special edition event on Thursday, August 7th, running from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The festivities will unfold along the historic South Main Street, transforming the thoroughfare into a bustling marketplace.

To elevate the celebratory atmosphere, the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency (URA) has planned an array of engaging activities and generous giveaways. Early attendees will be especially delighted, as the first 100 shoppers visiting the URA’s distinctive “Boxcar” Information Booth will receive complimentary Wyoming Main Street/Support Local tote bags, a tangible token of community pride.

The Main Street Market itself boasts a rich heritage, having been a cherished community tradition for over two decades. Its humble beginnings trace back to a small gathering in Bank Court, initially organized by the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, laying the groundwork for what it has become today.

Under the diligent production of the Rock Springs Main Street/URA, the market has experienced remarkable expansion, evolving into a major attraction. This season, it proudly showcases nearly 50 diverse food vendors and artisans, consistently drawing record crowds and reinforcing its status as a vital food market in the region.

Further solidifying the importance of this week, the Rock Springs City Council is slated to formally acknowledge National Farmer’s Market Week with an official proclamation. This significant civic gesture will take place at their meeting on Tuesday, August 5th, at 7 p.m., highlighting the collective recognition of the market’s value.

Members of the Rock Springs Wyoming community and ardent market supporters are highly encouraged to attend this council meeting. Their presence will serve to amplify the celebration of the indispensable role that farmer’s markets and other local markets play in bolstering small businesses, championing agricultural support, and strengthening invaluable community connections.

For those seeking more comprehensive details about the special Main Street Market celebration or the broader National Farmer’s Market Week initiatives, inquiries can be directed to the Rock Springs Main Street/URA by visiting their offices or contacting them at (307) 352-1434.
