This highly anticipated arrival, following a diligent 15-hour journey from Florida, signifies a seamless transition in the continuous human presence aboard the sprawling orbital laboratory.
The journey culminated with the Dragon spacecraft executing a precise docking maneuver at the ISS’s Harmony module at 2:27 a.m. EDT. Following this crucial attachment, the expert flight crews meticulously performed standard leak checks and pressurization procedures, ensuring the secure and safe integration of the two spacecraft before the new crew members could enter their new home in orbit.
Upon entry at 3:46 a.m. EDT, NASA astronauts Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Kimiya Yui, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Platonov, were warmly greeted by the seven established members of Expedition 73. The newly arrived Crew-11 will soon take over responsibilities from the outgoing Crew-10 members. Astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers of NASA, JAXA’s Takuya Onishi, and cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, who have been integral to the orbital laboratory since mid-March, are now preparing for their return journey to Earth in the coming days, concluding their extended space mission.
