In a series of strong declarations on Truth Social, the former president vehemently labeled the latest July jobs figures as “rigged,” asserting that these numbers were intentionally skewed to cast a negative light on Republicans and specifically on himself. The contentious July jobs report, issued by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, revealed that the U.S. economy managed to add only 73,000 jobs, a figure significantly below prevailing economic expectations. Adding to the concern, the report also included substantial downward revisions for May and June job gains, collectively adjusting them by over 200,000, painting a clearer, albeit less optimistic, picture of the nation’s employment figures.
Erika McEntarfer herself is a seasoned civil servant with an extensive career spanning various government agencies, including the Census Bureau and the Treasury Department. Her confirmation earlier this year as BLS Commissioner was notable, garnering strong bipartisan support with an overwhelming 86-8 vote in the Senate, underscoring her previous reputation as a non-political expert.
