Jaguars Make Roster Move, Place Veteran Lineman on Reserve/Retired List

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially made a significant roster adjustment, placing veteran offensive lineman Dennis Daley on the reserve/retired list. This transaction creates a crucial opening on the team’s 90-man active roster, a move that aligns with the ongoing strategic decisions leading up to the demanding NFL roster cuts.

Daley, a formidable 6-foot-6, 325-pound athlete hailing from South Carolina, initially joined the Jacksonville Jaguars last November. His initial stint was on a practice-squad contract, demonstrating the team’s initial interest in his capabilities and potential contribution.

Following his practice squad tenure, Daley re-signed with the Jaguars in January, signaling a more permanent commitment from the organization. He had been operating as a reserve left guard, consistently running with the third-team offense throughout the demanding training camp sessions.

This recent transaction is a strategic maneuver by the Jacksonville Jaguars as all NFL teams face the imminent deadline of reducing their rosters to a final 53 players by August 26. Given his position within the depth chart, Daley was widely considered an unlikely candidate to secure a spot on the final roster.

Prior to his time with the Jaguars, Dennis Daley had a complex journey through the National Football League. He signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals in March 2023 as an unrestricted free agent, indicating his value on the open market.

However, his tenure with the Cardinals was short-lived and hampered by injury. Daley sustained an ankle injury during preseason action, limiting his play to just three games before Arizona released him in August. This unfortunate setback left him out of football until the Jacksonville Jaguars provided another opportunity.

Despite joining the Jaguars’ practice squad in November, Daley did not see any game action in the 2024 season. His placement on the reserve/retired list now formally concludes his association with the team and potentially his professional football career, marking another instance of player movement in the competitive NFL landscape.

The decision reflects the rigorous nature of NFL roster management and the constant evaluation of talent and team needs. The Jacksonville Jaguars will continue to fine-tune their lineup in preparation for the upcoming season, with every transaction playing a vital role in shaping their competitive outlook.
