Popular Water Slide Attraction Seeks Extended Summer Season Near Fremington

A popular giant water slide attraction located in a field near Fremington, Devon, is seeking crucial planning permission to significantly extend its operational season beyond the traditional summer holiday period. This ambitious proposal aims to transform the local outdoor leisure landscape, offering more opportunities for fun and activity.

The temporary change of use application has been submitted for Collacott Farm, Fremington, the proposed site of the Monster Slip and Slide attraction. Initially planned for 76 days annually between May and September, the new request seeks to broaden this window, allowing for a longer period of public enjoyment.

Furthermore, the comprehensive planning documents presented to the local Council detail an additional 60-day period specifically allocated for the essential set up and disassembly of the large-scale water feature. This extended timeframe underscores the significant logistical undertaking involved in preparing and dismantling such a substantial facility.

The retrospective proposal, as outlined in the planning submission, aims to establish a seasonal outdoor leisure facility that serves both local residents and the influx of tourists visiting the area. Proponents argue that the water slide offers a safe, enjoyable, and active outdoor experience, perfectly complementing the rural aesthetics of the land.

Critically, the initiative is positioned as a key driver for enhancing local tourism development, drawing visitors and contributing to the regional economy. By providing a unique summer activities option, the attraction seeks to solidify Devon’s appeal as a premier destination for families and adventure seekers.

The impressive scale of the attraction includes a substantial 22-meter-wide PVC water slide that stretches an impressive 110 meters in length. The total site encompasses a generous 6,835 square meters, thoughtfully designed to include necessary welfare facilities and ample parking for visitors.

As the planning application moves forward, stakeholders keenly await the decision that will determine the future of this vibrant outdoor leisure offering, potentially boosting Devon attractions and providing extended recreational opportunities for all.
