With a life marked by profound dignity, unwavering perseverance, and an abundance of grace, Patricia (Perry) McLaughlin, 80, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, embarking on a cherished reunion with the enduring love of her life, Jack. Her remarkable journey, which began on August 7, 1944, in Portland, Maine, unfolded with purpose and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
As a young teen, Patricia moved to Manchester, Connecticut, a community that would become the cornerstone of her existence and the beloved setting where she lovingly raised her children. This period defined much of her early adult life, establishing deep roots within the local fabric and cultivating relationships that would last a lifetime.
Later in life, Patricia and Jack embraced a new chapter, choosing to retire to the sunny landscapes of Sarasota, Florida. Here, they found themselves enveloped by a warm circle of wonderful friends, extending their legacy of connection and enjoyment into their golden years, proving that new beginnings can always foster joy.
Patricia and Jack were immensely blessed with three children, each of whom will forever cherish her memory as a steadfastly loyal, incredibly generous, and deeply loving mother. Her devotion extended to her cherished daughter, Carolyn (Cary) Trantalis and her husband William; her sons, John McLaughlin and his wife Rene; and Robert McLaughlin and his wife Julie. Her legacy further bloomed through six adoring grandchildren—Nikolos, Christian, Christina, Jack, Ryan, and Jake—and four great-grandchildren—Emma, Grace, Olivia, and Benjamin—each a testament to her enduring family spirit. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack and her parents Robert Perry, Lucille and Arthur Cummings.
Beyond her family, Patricia dedicated significant time and energy to enriching her community. She was an active and valued member of the Manchester Junior Women’s Club, demonstrating her commitment to local initiatives. Her compassionate spirit shone brightly through her volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, where she helped ensure essential support for those in need, and later, her selfless contributions at Verplanck Elementary School, leaving a positive influence on young lives.
Patricia also enjoyed a distinguished professional career, initially taking a teller position at Savings Bank of Manchester (SBM). Her dedication and aptitude quickly propelled her through the ranks, culminating in her respected role as Assistant to the President and a Bank Officer. She truly thrived in her work environment, cultivating many long-lasting friendships among colleagues at SBM before her well-deserved retirement in 2004, showcasing her significant professional impact.
Outside of her professional and community endeavors, Patricia and Jack shared a passion for life’s simple pleasures, notably spending countless enjoyable hours on their Catalina sailboat in Mystic, gracefully navigating the Northeast coastline before their move to Florida. Patricia was also renowned as a phenomenal cook, and together, she and Jack were celebrated for hosting unrivaled parties that brought immense joy to their wide circle of friends and family throughout their remarkable sixty years together.
